Following the rainfall in Delhi, the weather has turned colder. The Meteorological Department has issued a dense fog alert. Consequently, people are using bonfires to keep warm. With rising pollution levels in Delhi, GRAP-4 has been enforced, as the air quality is currently poor.

The rain in Delhi NCR since late Wednesday evening has intensified the chill.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, forecasting fog and rain for several days. Due to a Western disturbance, dense fog covered Delhi NCR from Wednesday morning, but by the afternoon, there was some sunshine, and by evening, light rain fell in various parts of Delhi NCR. The rain further increased the chill and lowered the temperature.
The Delhi government implemented Grape 3 and Grape 4 on Wednesday evening due to worsening air pollution, but there was a slight improvement in air quality after the rain. People are using bonfires to stay warm in Kamala Market, Delhi. Residents report that the cold has intensified over the past two days. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Delhi, with nighttime temperatures dropping to 12 degrees Celsius. According to the department, the cold will persist along with light rain for the coming days.
Classes started on hybrid mode
The weather has cleared in Delhi due to the rain. Nevertheless, the Delhi government enforced Grape 3 and Grape 4 on Wednesday evening, leading to the decision to start classes in hybrid mode for all students except those in 10th and 12th grades. Meanwhile, in response to the increasing cold in Noida, the District Magistrate ordered a change in the timing of all private and government school classes from January 16 until further notice.
Timing of schools changed
The District Basic Education Officer has mandated that all classes from nursery to eighth grade will begin at 10:00 am. This measure aims to protect young children from the cold and prevent illness. Therefore, the District Magistrate has advocated for altering school timings. A dense fog alert is in place for Delhi for the next four days, with the possibility of more rain thereafter.
