Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi : Since the coup in Bangladesh, its relations with India have deteriorated. Recently, tensions have also risen along the India-Bangladesh border. The installation of barbed wire fencing in the border area has further escalated these tensions.

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi stated about discussions with Bangladesh, "I maintained contact with the Bangladesh Army Chief during the crisis and up to recent times. We can only discuss relations with Bangladesh when an elected government is in place there."
Earlier, Foreign Secretary Mohammad Jashim Uddin conveyed Bangladesh's "deep concern" regarding recent border tensions during a meeting with Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
