Alka Lamba has served as an Aam Aadmi Party MLA for the Chandni Chowk seat. In the previous election, she ran for the Chandni Chowk seat on a Congress ticket, and she is contesting from the same seat again this time.

Alka Lamba is set to compete against Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Atishi for the Kalkaji seat in the Delhi Assembly elections. Sources indicate that Alka Lamba agreed to run after being persuaded by the Congress leadership. The Congress Central Election Committee approved the candidacy of Mahila Congress National President Alka Lamba for the Kalkaji seat last week, but she was initially reluctant to participate. As a result, the Kalkaji seat was omitted from the Congress's second list.
Sources indicate that Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge personally persuaded Alka Lamba to accept the party's decision and run in the election, to which she consented. Congress is expected to announce candidates on January 3 for the remaining 23 seats in Delhi, including Kalkaji.
Alka Lamba has been an MLA of Aam Aadmi Party
Alka Lamba previously served as an MLA for the Aam Aadmi Party representing the Chandni Chowk seat. She ran for the Chandni Chowk assembly seat on a Congress ticket last time and was again seeking the nomination for this seat. However, Congress chose to contest Alka Lamba against Atishi by nominating Mudit Agarwal for the Chandni Chowk seat.
Sandeep Dixit will contest against Arvind Kejriwal
Congress aims to present a strong challenge to the Aam Aadmi Party by putting forward its most prominent female leader against the female Chief Minister in Delhi. As part of this strategy, Sandeep Dixit has been nominated to contest against Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat. Simultaneously, Congress has nominated Farhad Suri to run against the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, from the Jangpura assembly seat.
