The People's Liberation Army of China has initiated combat exercises close to the LAC. Learn about the current status of the India-China border and the recent agreements between the two nations.

India-China Relations : As efforts continue to achieve peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China has resumed combat exercises near the border. These drills incorporate advanced technology, including drones and unmanned systems. This development occurs amidst an agreement between the two nations to resume patrolling.
On 21 October 2024, India and China signed an agreement to restart patrolling in sensitive regions such as Depsang and Demchok. This accord marked a significant move towards easing tensions following the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. However, despite the agreement, uncertainty persists along the border, and a substantial number of troops remain stationed there.
China is using advanced technology
This Chinese drill is not merely routine training; it is executed with strategic intent. Utilizing equipment such as exoskeletons, Chinese soldiers are effectively performing military exercises in high-altitude regions. This is a component of China's strategy, which involves swiftly deploying troops in contested areas.
India's response
The Indian Army is also conducting winter exercises and upgrading its infrastructure. Surveillance systems are being strengthened to counter any possible attack by China. The army in Ladakh is being equipped with modern equipment to counter any aggressive move by China.
Border dispute between India and China
The border dispute between India and China continues to be a complicated matter. Even with China's military exercises on the LAC and agreements between the nations, tensions at the border endure. India must stay alert and enhance its military readiness to address any potential challenges.
