The 2024 Maha Kumbh is anticipated to generate trade surpassing Rs 4 lakh crore, greatly enhancing India's economy. This event is likely to increase GDP by over 1% and elevate government revenues to record levels.
40 crore devotees expected to arrive
The Uttar Pradesh government anticipates that more than 40 crore domestic and international visitors will attend the event. With each individual spending between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 on average, total spending might reach Rs 4.5 lakh crore. This will benefit sectors like accommodation, transport, catering, handicrafts, and tourism. This spending signifies unplanned additional economic activity in January and February.
