Since Tuesday morning, Lakhimpur Kheri district has been enveloped in fog, with clouds covering the sky, preventing the sun from appearing until 12 noon. The cold wave and excessive melting severely disrupted public life. Due to the cold, the DM has declared a holiday for all schools from nursery to 12th grade.

School Closed : Due to the intense cold and cold wave in Lakhimpur Kheri district, a holiday has been announced for all recognized schools across various boards. Schools where practical examinations are scheduled are instructed to remain open. This holiday will last until January 14. On Tuesday afternoon, DIOS Dr. Mahendra Pratap Singh issued an order and instructed school managers to comply with it.
Holiday declared till January 14
Following the directives from DM Durga Shakti Nagpal, DIOS Dr. Mahendra Pratap Singh has declared a school holiday. In the issued letter, the DIOS stated that due to the cold weather, classes from nursery to intermediate across all boards will be suspended until January 14. However, in recognized schools of various boards, if pre-board examination schedules have been set aside from practical exams, school administrators are allowed to summon high school and intermediate students as planned.
People shivered from icy wind
The district experienced cold winds all day on Tuesday, causing people to shiver. In Nighasan, no effective measures have been taken to shield people from the cold. Only two bonfires have been set up in the town. They have husk, but lack wood. As a result, the bonfires provide little warmth, leaving people shivering.
The sky was overcast with clouds and fog since morning. The cold intensified with the cold winds. Travelers using trains or buses have been shivering in the cold at public places. Residents Guddu, Parshuram, Pradeep, Jaiprakash, and Manoj mentioned that the administration usually sets up bonfires every year to combat the cold. This year, however, bonfires are only lit at two locations, Tyre Chauraha and Private Bus Stand. No bonfires have been lit at Railway Station Chauraha and Roadways Bus Stand.
