The temperature in Jammu and Kashmir is steadily decreasing. In Drass, Ladakh, it has reached -23.5 degrees Celsius. In Kargil and Leh, the temperature has fallen to -13 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir has dropped to -10.4, Gulmarg to -9.8, and Pahalgam to -8.2 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Jammu and Kashmir : According to the Meteorological Department, Drass town in Ladakh region recorded a temperature of minus 29 degrees Celsius on Tuesday even as severe cold wave continued in the Valley. The 40-day period of harsh winter locally known as 'Chillai Kalan' will end on January 30.
Water taps were frozen in Srinagar city in the morning while the Meteorological Department has forecast generally clear skies in Jammu and partly cloudy skies in the Valley during the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at minus 2.7 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam at minus 11.8 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg at minus 11.5 degrees Celsius.
Drass town in Ladakh region recorded a low of minus 29 degrees Celsius, Kargil at minus 20.9 degrees Celsius and Leh at minus 15.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 3.1 degrees in Jammu, 3.6 degrees in Katra, minus 2 degrees in Batote, minus 1.5 degrees in Banihal and minus 2.6 degrees in Bhaderwah.
Due to continuous dense fog, air connectivity from Srinagar to other parts of the country could not be restored for the second day on Sunday. Meanwhile, due to repair of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the movement of civilian vehicles was stopped. Only military vehicles were allowed to pass through the highway. The highway has been damaged due to the landslide in the Ramban sector a few days ago.
