Why is a rope connected to the police uniform? You might not be aware of its significance

Why is there a rope attached to the police:
Everyone gets thrilled to see the uniform of police and army personnel. Their uniform not only reminds us of service to the country but also makes us experience discipline in life. You must have noticed that there are many things in the uniform of police and army personnel, which are not commonly used. For example, you must have seen a rope-like thing in the uniform of police or army personnel. Do you know why this rope-like thing is used in the uniform? And what does it mean? Let us tell you.
If you are trying to understand it as a rope, then you are wrong. Actually, it is not a rope. It is known as lanyard. Lanyards are of different colors and sizes depending on the service or rank of a military officer or policeman. Talking about Maharashtra Police, the lanyard for all State Police Service officers from constable to DCP rank is of khaki color. At the same time, IPS officers and constables of State Reserve Police Force wear navy blue colored lanyard.
How is it used
You must have seen traffic police, they have a whistle. Traffic police use a lanyard to keep this whistle. It is worn on the left side for the whistle and it is usually kept in the left pocket of the shirt. The rope on the left shoulder is called whistle cord. However, some officers also carry government pistols. Lanyard is also used to protect the pistol and it is worn on the right. So that no one can snatch the pistol. That is, the lanyard was attached to the police uniform so that they can use it as per their requirement when needed.
